Who we are

M-Tacab is a digital agricultural advisory platform operated by Innovii Digital Service, Mogadishu, Somalia. Questions about this notice go to info@mtacab.so.

Visiting the website

When you open a page on mtacab.so we record the page address, the time, whether you came from a link, a search engine, WhatsApp or typed the address in, whether the screen is a phone, tablet or computer, your browser and its language setting, and your device’s network (IP) address. The IP address is checked against a public geolocation service to give us an approximate location — the country and, roughly, the city the connection appears to come from. Pages you open in the same browser tab are grouped together as one visit, using a random number your browser keeps in session storage and discards when you close the tab. We set no cookie, and nothing here lets us recognise you on a later visit or follow you to any other website. We do not build a browsing profile and we use no advertising trackers. The one exception is the bulletin reference described below, which only exists if you opened a link from an email we sent you.

We use this to see which advisories and market pages are read, to know which countries and cities our readers are in, and to report visitor numbers in aggregate to partners and funders. IP addresses themselves are used only to derive that location and to protect the service from abuse; they are kept restricted — not visible on the website, not shown in our own dashboards, and never sold or shared. Only the aggregated counts (for example, “so many visits from Mogadishu”) appear in reports. To ask what we hold or have it deleted, write to info@mtacab.so.

Some pages fetch live data from third-party services in your browser — for example weather forecasts from Open-Meteo on the farm weather board. Those requests are made directly by your browser to that provider and are subject to the provider’s own terms.

The Suuq Bulletin and other emails

If you receive the Suuq Bulletin, we hold your email address, and where you gave it, your name and organisation. We send it through Mailchimp, which records whether an email was delivered and which links in it were clicked. Links in the bulletin carry a short reference so that, when you open the issue page on mtacab.so, we can tell that a visit came from the email rather than from search or WhatsApp. We use this only to understand which content is useful and to report reader numbers in aggregate. We do not sell or share the list.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. Using it removes you from future sends immediately. You can also write to info@mtacab.so and we will remove you by hand.

Writing to us

Messages sent through the contact form or by email are kept so that we can reply and follow up. They are not added to any mailing list.

Farmers using the SMS, USSD and voice services

Advisory subscribers are identified by their mobile number, which is needed to deliver the service. Numbers are used only to send the advisory the subscriber asked for and to bill through the operator. Details specific to those services are given at sign-up on the phone.

Your choices

• Unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of the message.
• Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, at info@mtacab.so.
